Nasi Kandar Tayub @ Taman Tasek Damai, Ipoh

Salam,

When you being told or ask about any good Nasi Kandar in Ipoh, for sure, Nasi Kandar Ayam Merah or Nasi Ganja Yong Suan will come in your mind right? Last time, I have posted about one unpopular but a legendary Nasi Kandar in Ipoh, Majeedia Nasi Kandar Ayam Ros, Ipoh. In this post, I will write about another unpopular choice of Nasi Kandar in Ipoh which I think you should try. It is known as Nasi Kandar Tayub in Taman Tasek Damai, Ipoh.

So let’s see how good is it through photo, but before that, here’s my verdict:-

Food:- The Ayam Merah (red chicken or sambal chicken) is flavory and nice. Not very spicy too. Overall, I love it and somehow rather, it gives me some other Nasi Kandar choice as good as Nasi Ganja. I was also being recommended to try the lamb curry by the netizens, so later on maybe I will try it. The side sambal is not as good as Nasi Ganja’s.

ASOW Eatery Station @ Jalan Tambun Baru, Ampang, Ipoh

Salam,

It is a very long time already I didn’t have this level of excitement when I want to review a food spot. But this place, really, something I’ve been dreaming off to own for myself. A place with a good coffee, air conditioned, nice ambience surrounded by nature/trees/flowers. I have seen this kind of cafe a lot when I visited Seoul (Nami Island to be specific), Korea last time.

So, whats so special about this place? Well, first, it was located inside a plant nursery. The ambience was very nice, it was decorated and surrounded by flowers and trees and a method of planting known as Terrarium. Having coffee here was super nice!

Second, the food was awesome. They have plenty of choices in their menu and they served from breakfast to dinner. Truly, for me, the taste of the food tad bit above my expectation. But most of their menu are western foods. Hope one day they can offer some local delicacies too.

So my verdict?

Imagine the above view while having your kampung style lunch, wouldn’t that be awesome?! Well, you can enjoy the serenity of paddy field view while having your lunch at this restaurant.

“Restoran Hamizi Selera Utara” is located at Bota Kiri, Perak which is around 40km from Ipoh town and located at the roadside of Ipoh-Lumut highway.

The view is not the only one that is interesting here, but the choices of the lauk (dishes) is another things that you should consider when coming to this restaurant. They have plethora of kampung style dishes to choose from!

Anyway, before serving you with the photos, let me give my verdict first.

Price:- The price is affordable.

Environment:- The serenity of the paddy field plus the kampung style dishes, what more can you ask for.

Anyway enjoy more photos below:-

Ayam Penyet @ Jawa Cafe, Ipoh

Salam,

Ayam Penyet or Lalapan Ayam is a simple delicacies from Indonesia. *Done claim*

Nevertheless of its origins, I, as a Malaysian, have to admit that we have found love in this Indonesian cuisine. The same way we all found love to our national food, Nasi Lemak. *Done claim too*

However, due to many love they received, Ayam Penyet has become too commercialized until it has lost its originality and become too fancy. What I mean is that, some Ayam Penyet has been modified to put extra side dish in it such as Terung Balado or Tempe etc in it, thus, it is not very simple as it should be (At least, that’s how I believe original Ayam Penyet should be?

Medan Selera Dato Tahwil Azar (TKK) @ Ipoh, Perak

Salam,

Medan Selera Dato Tahwil Azar or some called it Medan Selera Taman Kanak-Kanak (TKK), is a food court which is very fond to Ipoh kids or at least for a 90s kid. The food court is called Taman Kanak-Kanak (Children’s Playground) is due to the presence of a mini playground there and there is a big clock tower synonyms to this food court. Last time I remember, at a certain point of time, the ornaments and decorations on the tower will move and dancing when the time comes but now I think the clock broke already.

Anyway, if you are looking for a place to have your dinner in Ipoh but don’t want any fancy restaurant and want to try some hawker style dinner place in Ipoh, I would recommend this place. In this post, I will write about some of the interesting stalls here for you to try.

House Restaurant @ Ipoh Town

UNFORTUNATELY THIS RESTAURANT HAD DISCONTINUED THEIR BUSINESS

Salam,

Albeit lack of promotion (as I couldn’t find any in social media), this restaurant was able to attract me and any other people of Ipoh. Before I went here, I saw a lot of people at this restaurant which makes me wonder what’s so special about it.

From the outside, you can see that the decoration was nicely done and the restaurant was well lighted. There is a place for you to dine outside if you prefer open air environment whereby the restaurant is air-conditioned inside. Upon entering, this restaurant amazed me with its interior and decoration.

Pak Long Cafe @ Ipoh Town

UNFORTUNATELY THIS RESTAURANT HAD DISCONTINUED THEIR BUSINESS

Salam,

The name of this cafe is quite unique as it means “the eldest uncle”. Though quite new in the arena of Hipsters Cafe in Ipoh, this little cafe is air-conditioned and well decorated.

I personally prefer a cafe to be air conditioned and cozy. I dont know why but I always see that a cafe is a good place to hang out with your friends and to have a long good chit chating. At the time when I came here, the cafe is ready to wrap up for that day and it is still new, so the menu is a little bit limited, so we just order what they have.

Gopeng Guesthouse & Cafe @ Gopeng Town

Salam,

Small town of Gopeng, Perak is an old town where it is previously known for their tin mining industries. After the dawn of tin mining activities in Malaysia, it has become quite a ghost town. But recently, this town is brought back to life when the government of Perak started to promote this town for their adventure activities. A lot of foreigners and locals who likes some adventure will come here for some outdoors activities such as kayaking, hiking, abseiling, and many more.
