Jalan Theatre Coffee Cafe @ Jalan Theatre, Ipoh

Salam,

Ipoh is well known for its white coffee. Whenever you come to Ipoh, I must say, you have to try the local coffee here. Nonetheless, this cafe perhaps, trying to take an advantage of what Ipoh has been infamous for.

Well, I have to say, they succeed. With good coffee as their main niche, I think they cannot go wrong. But what I like the most is that they are localising the international cuisine to suits our local taste such as their Sambal Pamelo Chicken Pasta. Most people already know that Ipoh is very famous for its Pamelo fruits.

Albeit I forgot to snap the photos of the coffee, let’s, first, read my verdict on this cafe before we go for the photos.

Food:- Well, even though they are focusing on coffee, I can say that the food here is nice. It is beyond my expectation. One interesting menu is Sambal Pamelo Chicken Pasta which I think is amazingggg. I like it because it had localised the Italian menu. Coffee here was nice too.

Restoran Pakcik Wong @ Greentown, Ipoh

Salam,

There are several Halal Chinese / Chinese Muslim food restaurant in Malaysia. Some even are a franchise type of restaurant like Haji Sharin Low or Mohd Chan. However, in Ipoh, there are one local Chinese Muslim food that I think very affordable and the food taste very nice. And I would like to remind you once again that I’m a Chinese food lover.

Pakcik Wong Chinese Muslim restaurants served ala carte chinese muslim foods that comes with a set of rice, drinks and ice-cream. At this moment it seems like they only offer single sets for all dishes, which (I think) not very suitable for a family and/or friends gathering.

Nevertheless, here’s my verdicts of this restaurant:-

Food:- Well, the butter chicken is good. Some of the food taste a bit bland, but it is bearable. Overall, it is nice. Their delicacies ranging from Chinese style cuisine to western foods.

Price:- I must say, the set is a bit cheap and very affordable. It comes with drinks and ice-cream.

Environment:- Air-conditioned, so it’s a big plus. Restaurant is clean and spacious.

UNFORTUNATELY THIS STALL HAD DISCONTINUED THEIR BUSINESS

Salam,

There are not many stall or restaurants offering Halal Korean food in Ipoh. There are also popular franchise like Myeongdong Toppokki and Choo Choo Chicken, but not a local homegrown one. I found this Korean food stall when I went for groceries shopping at Tesco Hypermarket Ipoh Garden as this stall is located at their food court.

Well, here’s the verdict:-

Food:- Surprisingly good! Hope more choices will be available in future. Nevertheless, kudos to the owner for the great food!

Price:- Affordable.

Environment:- Normal Tesco foodcourt.

Indian’s Banana Leaf Cuisine in Ipoh @ The Andersonians’ Club

Salam,

If you craved for special muslim friendly, pork free Indian cuisine in Ipoh, I might say, this is the place to go. The Andersonians’ Club served southern Indian cuisine for lunch and what so special about it, it is served on a banana leaf and it has been in business for many years.

Before this, I’ve been to the banana leaf restaurant in Bangsar and I think this restaurant is as good as there if not better (for the taste). So, before I go to the photos, let me give my verdict first:-

Nasi Kandar Tayub @ Taman Tasek Damai, Ipoh

Salam,

When you being told or ask about any good Nasi Kandar in Ipoh, for sure, Nasi Kandar Ayam Merah or Nasi Ganja Yong Suan will come in your mind right? Last time, I have posted about one unpopular but a legendary Nasi Kandar in Ipoh, Majeedia Nasi Kandar Ayam Ros, Ipoh. In this post, I will write about another unpopular choice of Nasi Kandar in Ipoh which I think you should try. It is known as Nasi Kandar Tayub in Taman Tasek Damai, Ipoh.

So let’s see how good is it through photo, but before that, here’s my verdict:-

Food:- The Ayam Merah (red chicken or sambal chicken) is flavory and nice. Not very spicy too. Overall, I love it and somehow rather, it gives me some other Nasi Kandar choice as good as Nasi Ganja. I was also being recommended to try the lamb curry by the netizens, so later on maybe I will try it. The side sambal is not as good as Nasi Ganja’s.

ASOW Eatery Station @ Jalan Tambun Baru, Ampang, Ipoh

Salam,

It is a very long time already I didn’t have this level of excitement when I want to review a food spot. But this place, really, something I’ve been dreaming off to own for myself. A place with a good coffee, air conditioned, nice ambience surrounded by nature/trees/flowers. I have seen this kind of cafe a lot when I visited Seoul (Nami Island to be specific), Korea last time.

So, whats so special about this place? Well, first, it was located inside a plant nursery. The ambience was very nice, it was decorated and surrounded by flowers and trees and a method of planting known as Terrarium. Having coffee here was super nice!

Second, the food was awesome. They have plenty of choices in their menu and they served from breakfast to dinner. Truly, for me, the taste of the food tad bit above my expectation. But most of their menu are western foods. Hope one day they can offer some local delicacies too.

So my verdict?
